Old Pulteney Polaris is a one-of-one, 47-year-old single malt — the oldest release in the distillery's near-200-year history — unveiled exclusively through the Distillers' One of One Charity Auction in October 2025, raising funds for The Distillers' Charity. Filmed on location at GLASSTORM's hot glass studio and at the Old Pulteney distillery in Wick, the film marked the first announcement ahead of the distillery's 200th anniversary in 2026.
Named after the North Star and inspired by the windswept cliffs of the far north Scottish coast, Polaris was designed in close partnership with local artisans. Its hand-blown blue glass bottle — created by Tain-based glassmakers GLASSTORM — carries rippled inciso cuts evoking the North Sea, housed within a Caithness slate structure from Norse Stone and finished with copper and silver detailing by jeweller Lucy Woodley. At its base sits a hidden copper disc, reclaimed from one of the distillery's own stills.
Glass artisans Brodie Nairn and Nichola Burns of GLASSTORM traced the design back to a walk along the coastline near Wick, where a sea arch called Thirle Door Arch framed a view "almost like a window out to the North Sea."
